EMPLOY Warehouse Workers manually move freight, stock, or other materials or perform other unskilled general labor. Pack or package by hand a wide variety of products and materials.

EMPLOY participants can perform some or all of these functions:

  • Read work orders and/or follow oral instructions to determine specified material and equipment to be moved and its relocation
  • Carry or move cargo by hand truck
  • Stack cargo on pallets to facilitate transfer
  • Attach and move slings to lift cargo
  • Arrange equipment following work order specifications
  • Sort and store items according to specifications
  • Sew and repair items
  • Order equipment and maintain equipment storage areas
  • Erect canvas covers to protect equipment from weather
  • Load and unload materials to and from designated storage areas
  • Direct spouts and position receptacles to receive loads
  • Transport receptacles to and from designated areas
  • Shovel materials, such as gravel, ice or spilled concrete, into containers, bins or onto conveyor
  • Bundle and band material using banding machines
  • Assemble and line product cartons, containers and crates
  • Adjust or replace equipment parts, such as rollers, belts, plugs and caps
  • Record number of units handled and moved using daily production sheet or work tickets
  • Attach identifying tags or mark information on containers
  • Install protective devices to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported
  • Fasten and wrap products and materials
  • Place or pour products or materials into container
  • Load materials and products into package processing equipment
  • Tend packing machines and equipment
  • Examine and inspect containers, materials, and products to ensure packaging process meets specifications
  • Seal containers or materials
