Draws outline of pattern parts and garment sizes
Positions and cuts out pattern

EMPLOY Textile Patternmakers draw and construct sets of precision master fabric patterns or layouts. Also mark and cut fabrics and apparel.
EMPLOY participants can perform some or all of these functions:
- Examine sketches or sample articles and design specifications to a certain number, shape, and size of pattern parts
- Draw details on outlined parts to indicate guides in joining parts
- Draw patterns for range of garment sizes, grading master pattern for each size, using charts or grading device
- Draw outline of pattern parts, using drafting instruments such as calipers, squares, and straight and curved rulers
- Trace outline and cut pattern into parts to make template
- Trace outline of template onto material and cut fabric
- Position and pin pattern section onto model form and discuss style lines, details, and revisions with designer
- Make drawing of garments and patterns
- Compute dimensions of pattern according to size, considering stretching of material, and measure and mark pattern
- Position master pattern on paperboard and draft reference points based on data from charts
- Position and cut out pattern
- Mark finished pattern with garment size, section, and style information
