Provides installation, leveling, alignment and set-up of textile machine components such as
gears, chains, guides, dies, cutters, and needles to set up machinery for operation |
EMPLOY Textile Cutters set up, operate, or tend machines that cut textiles.
EMPLOY participants can perform some or all of these functions:
- Study guides, samples, charts, and specification sheets, or confer with supervisor or engineering staff to determine setup requirements
- Inspect products to ensure specifications are met and determine need for machine adjustments
- Thread yarn, thread, and fabric through guides, needles, and rollers of machines
- Operate machine for test run to verify adjustments and to obtain sample of product
- Start machine, monitor operation, make adjustments and stop machine when specified amount of product has been produced
- Adjust heating mechanisms, tension and speed of machine operation
- Inspect machinery to determine adjustments or repairs needed
- Clean, oil, and lubricate machines
- Repair or replace worn or defective parts or components
